The KITE research group in the Environment Department, University of York, has a research position in Environmental Modelling to join a Marie Curie Initial Training Network entitled “Resilience in East African Landscapes: Identifying critical thresholds and sustainable trajectories (REAL)”. The position available is for an Early Stage Researcher (leading to a PhD), and will join an existing ESR and an Experienced Researcher on the REAL project.

You should hold a BSc or BA qualification in Geoinformatics, Maths, Archaeology, Environmental Science, Geography, GIS or Quaternary studies. Successful candidates will be appointed as a member of staff and register for a PhD in Environmental Geography.

The position is available for 36 months from 1 August 2014.

In line with eligibility criteria for Marie Curie Early Stage Researchers, you must, at the time recruitment to the post, be within the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of your research career and not yet have a doctoral degree. In addition, applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies etc) in the UK for more than 12 months in 3 years immediately prior to the commencement of the appointment in August 2014.
