Doc.Mobility@unibas Grant
05.2023
I am thrilled to announce that I have been awarded the doctoral mobility grant from the University of Basel, which is aimed at doctoral students who wish to enhance their scientific profile at a research institute abroad.
This grant will enable me to dedicate a full year of my Ph.D. program at the University of Cambridge, starting in September 2023. Throughout this period, I will collaborate with Prof. Paul Lane at the Department of Archaeology, who possesses extensive experience in eastern Africa, including projects on past, present, and future land-use change. Additionally, I will work alongside scholars affiliated with the Cambridge Conservation Research Institute and the Cambridge Global Food Security Centre. In the course of the grant, I intend to further analyze my existing datasets on how and to what extent an increase in agricultural crop production can be aligned with biodiversity conservation. Furthermore, I plan to conduct stakeholder workshops in Tanzania. Here, I aim to refine my modeled results regarding impacts on the Tanzanian economy in future scenarios of land use change that consider both agriculture and biodiversity.
In conclusion, I am grateful to the University of Basel for recognizing my potential and supporting my academic journey. This grant will offer an excellent opportunity to broaden my horizons and enhance my scientific contributions. [First published on the University of Basel website]
