World Universities Network (WUN)

The WUN Global Africa Group has been identified as one of WUN’s Cross-Cutting themes. These themes intersect with all four Global Challenges and are seen as vital to understanding and addressing them. Cross-Cutting themes are selected based on identifed research strengths across WUN.The group brings together expertise and resources from across Africa and members from the Worldwide Universities Network to facilitate a two-way understanding of Africa. In alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Global Africa Group’s focus includes issues around:

  • Natural Resources & Management
  • Climate Change & Adaptation
  • Governance & Sustainable Development
  • Mining & Industry Policies
  • Gender & Development

The group further aims to foster mutual understanding and collaboration between African and international institutions and serves as a bridge between the African continent, the West and East.

The Global Africa Group takes an interdisciplinary approach to Africa and incorporates research strengths that exist in WUN across areas of social policy, politics, history, economics and anthropology to offer a broad view of Africa.
